For BirdLife South Africa’s latest campaign we felt that it was time to go back to basics. The aim of this campaign was to instill a lasting appreciation and knowledge for birds in the public. We decided the best way to do this was through a phased approach – starting with awareness. We asked people to think birds.

When someone mentions a crane you probably think first of a massive metal frame dominating the skyline. To rectify this we used wordplay, or ‘birdplay’, to point out that when it comes to birds – we all need to brush up. The campaign comprises a series of tactical print, billboard, digipod and social media adverts that collectively aim to get people thinking about birds first.
